Many Scratches on Lens Giving Glaring Issue?

  • Post author:

Mr Chuah (M/39) came for eye examination, complaining of blurry far vision and glaring due to many scratches on his lenses. And he will remove glasses to see near.

Examination showed:
R: -4.75/-0.50×170 (6/6)
L: -5.00/-0.25×175 (6/6)

Mr Chuah’s shortsighted power has reduced 050 and with new power, he sees clear & comfortable at far & near, without the need to remove his glasses to see near. As he is about 40s when we will start to have reading power, lower shortsighted power at far vision that still gives satisfactory clear far vision, in return will give more comfortable near vision. The reduced -0.50 has, as if, become power +0.50 to be used for our near vision.. technically speaking?

Mr Chuah’s lenses of less than 1 year have many scratches due to the nature of his job. Lens scratches give him excessive glaring issue as light passes through scratches will be reflected, hence seen as glaring. He wants durable coating to better withstand the harshness at work. We explained that all lenses still will pick up scratches but lenses having scratch resistance property will minimise picking up scratches easily. Cleaning lenses with spectacle microfibre cloth is of paramount importance too as dust/tiny stone attached to our clothes can scratch our lenses easily.

Having in Flexi frame, with good flexibility fitted with lenses of Hoya HVLL.. all catered to his needs.

Thank you Mr Chuah for your trust & support!?
