Lifestyle, Outdoor Play & Myopia

Harinisha (F/15) came for eye examination, seeing far is blurry, near vision is okay with no headache.

Upon examination, her new power:
R: -5.50/-0.50×170 (6/6)
L: -5.00/-1.00×180 (6/6)

Harinisha did not bring her own glasses when she came. She brought along when she came to collect her new glasses.
Own glasses (2 years):
R: -4.75
L: -4.25/-0.50×30
We want to know the power of your own glasses so that we can compare with the new power. We will also let you see and compare between your own glasses and the new power.

In both eyes, shortsighted power has increased 075 and astigmatism power has increased 050. It is averagely an increase of 025 to 050/year. We want power increase of no more than 075/year for our children, beyond is a red flag requiring close monitor for power progression every 6 months.

Lifestyle is an important factor these days considering digital gadgets as part and parcel of our lives. Realising that it is almost impossible to completely eliminate gadgets from our children’s lives, what we can do is to embrace them. Like Jack Ma said, if we cannot change them, we change ourselves. What I have practised with my two daughters is that we have an hour of leisure screen time a day. They will set an alarm, after the alarm rings, they must put away their gadgets. This practice is diligently followed to avoid having screen time penalised the next day.

Outdoor play is equally important as limiting screen time. They have not gone out for any outdoor play yet. Until now, they have been cooperative and conservatively remain in the shop playing barbie dolls most of the time, reading books and playing their keyboard to singing songs as well as following youtube contorter in doing gymnastic moves. As long as our children do not glue to the screen the whole day long, it is fine setting them up to boredom, igniting their creativity and let them role playing all along, I think is great! Sisters are the best bff! And mami can goyang kaki?

Harinisha came with her bffs too, her older sister, Monisha and her younger sister. We checked Monisha’s eyes too.. we will update in a separate post about her findings tomorrow. Papa has opted for additional blue protection lens and they have chosen Kodak that gives clear transparent lens, suitable for younger generation who loves to take photo without much noticeable reflection, pairing with a black acetate Valentino frame. The rim is thick enough to totally cover the side thickness. We also give a pair of anti-slip ear hooks to give a good grip at back of ears.

Harinisha, you are going back to school.. enjoy and stay safe❤️

Thank you Harinisha & Mr Kalitasan for your trust & support!?
