Mr Yong (M/41) came for eye examination, with complaints of seeing far and near blurry and his existing glasses were missing.
Examination showed:
R: -0.75/-1.75×180 (6/6)
L: -3.75/-2.00×180 (6/7.5)
Addition: +0.75
Mr Yong has anisometropia – having short-sighted power difference of more than 200 between both his eyes, and he has 300 power difference. If he has this power since small, he may have one eyeball that is longer than the other. Longer eyeball means higher short-sighted power. Alternatively, if his power progressively increases in just one eye over time, it may be due to his improper posture, whereby he lies down sideway on bed to see his phone.
Mr Yong is entering presbyopia – he starts to see slightly blurry if he looks at his phone/computer continuously for quite some time. We prescribe multifocal lens so that he can see near comfortably working on his phone/computer even for prolonged period of time. Let the lens do all the auto-focusing job for us, rather than our eyes doing all the work, so our eyes are able to sustain working long hours due to increased digital work demand now.
