Mr Krishnan came to change his spectacle frame, as his puppy has bitten his glasses. We noticed one side of his lens is very thick and we busybody & asked him about his vision.
Mr Krishnan shared that his right eye is non-seeing eye due to explosion of battery, and this eye is seeing light only, “Light Perception”. His left seeing eye was injured last year. On his injured eye, he had cataract surgery and he also had a retina detachment post injury in which he has silicone oil inside his eye now so as to hold his retina in place.
He saw a lot of black things (we call floaters) in his vision when he had retina detachment. At that time, he was also scheduled to go back to his ophthalmologist for injury follow up when he noticed those floaters. And he said he was arranged for surgery at once.
Retina detachment is an eye emergency requiring prompt specialist care & treatment from an ophthalmologist. Glad that he had the retina detachment surgery just in time. Otherwise, he would have been blind.
Now, he depends entirely on this eye to see.. and he can see up until the largest three lines only with high plus lens. Let us all sayang our eyes, this one and only pair of eyes that has been given to us to enlighten our lives, in being the best person we can.
