Thong (F/23) came with complaint of dry eye & discomfort since long ago. She is non contact lens wearer.
Thong reported that she feels fine when she is indoors, only having dry eye to some pain whenever she goes outdoors.
Slit lamp examination showed rough appearance with significant papillae underneath her lids in both her eyes. We also did fluorescein staining and it was negative.
We have advised her to use non-preserved artificial tears to see if it helps. If the itch accompanying pain still persists, she should go to visit an eye specialist doctor/ophthalmologist to get eye drop that is safe to be used for longer period of time to help tackle the itchiness or eye allergy.
Some eye drops to relieve eye itch may have steroid in it.. continuous usage of eye drop containing steroid in the long run may induce high pressure in eye (causing glaucoma) and can go blind.
Thank you Mr & Mrs Chong and Thong for your trust & support!?
