Mrs Chong (F/49) came for eye examination, with complaint of blurry near vision with existing multifocal glasses of about 3years. Far vision is fine. She uses computer on long hours every day.

Mrs Chong works in front of computer on extended hours, so she is feeling the strain & tired eyes that really bothers her. Since she is fine seeing far with her existing glasses, we prescribe a separate pair of occupational office lens for her.
Multifocal glasses enable you from seeing far to seeing near simultaneously clear without having you to remove or change glasses. They are convenient. But, the width of clear reading zone of multifocal is no way wider than an office lens.
Office lens is specifically catered for extensive use of near vision.. like using computer with paperwork.. giving the widest, comfortable vision in the entire required near zone. Should you need to look to the door in your office, you can select the design that allows you to see clearly up to that distance.
Thus, you will not be able to see far away clearly with office lens.
It is a separate pair of occupational glasses.. to serve that intended purpose.. dedicated for office use.
Normally, when your reading power/Addition is above +1.50, you will enjoy more comfortable & clear, wider near portion if you will face computer the whole day long with office lens VS your multifocal glasses. Multifocal is a single convenient pair for everyday use. If you do not need to look at screen the entire day, a pair of multifocal would likely be sufficient. It all depends on your lifestyle, visual needs & expectation.
With the current increase of virtual meeting/conference/webinar, you find that you need to adopt a certain head posture or viewing your screen becomes uncomfortable, a visit to your eye care practitioner is probably in time.
