Kin has some esophoric eye posture at distance/far & near. With esophoria @distance, we will try to lower his shortsightedness/myopia to see whether or not it relieves the esophoric eye posture. The power of his own glasses is higher & his new power is lower. When we let him compare his own glasses & new power for far vision, he finds that vision with his own glasses is brighter. Yes, with higher power.. you will find that the vision is sharp & bright, sometimes too bright to the extent of being uncomfortable. As our lifestyle interacts with digital devices, requiring our eyes to look at near most of the time, our far power does not need to be too sharp so that our vision will be much more comfortable when seeing near. Otherwise, you can opt for relax lenses having relax power at bottom part of lens giving more comfortable near vision on top of the same sharpness of far vision at the top part of lens.
For Kin having esophoric far posture, it is still advisable to bring down myopia of at least 025, if not 050. He is actually asymptomatic/not having any visual complaint and no headache/blurry near vision. He is in a rush as he is leaving Malaysia for work on Wednesday already. We were not able to look at his eye systems, vergence & accommodation. Or if possible, we mention about referring him for cycloplegic refraction, due to time-constraint.. perhaps he can have it done after he settles down there.
