Lynn (F/16), sibling of Wen & Zhen, came for eye examination, complaining tired eyes upon prolonged near work.

L: -4.00/-1.75×170 (6/6) +1.00 6/12+

Other assessments show:

Examination of Eye Alignment/Vergence (Cover Test)

(normal value: orthophoria/NMD-No Movement Detected or small XP small recovery)
EP = Esophoria is misalignment of the eye, eye is deviated inwards
XP = Exophoria is misalignment of the eye, eye is deviated outwards

Examination of 3D Vision/Stereopsis (Titmus Fly)

EP = Esophoria is misalignment of the eye, eye is deviated inwards
XP = Exophoria is misalignment of the eye, eye is deviated outwards

NRA (Accommodation/Focusing analysis – ability to relax accommodation)

(normal value: +1.50 to +2.50)

PRA (Accommodation/Focusing analysis – ability to stimulate accommodation)
-1.25
(normal value: -1.37 to -3.37)

Lynn’s shortsighted power in left eye seems to be 050 or more higher – generally, with a +1.00 blur lens test, vision needs to drop to 6/12, if vision is better indicating power is slightly over. This may be causing the tired eyes after looking at near for some time. Higher power means not only our eyes need to focus to see clearly at near but also need extra work to focus for the higher power too, leaving to tired eyes.

Since vision is fine at both far & near, Lynn can continue with existing glasses for time being. We reinforce proper visual hygiene, to have regular break 20-20-20 rule in between near work, which is very important.

We will monitor her again in the next follow up.
