Chi Chi (F/23) came for eye examination, vision with existing glasses is fine.
Examination shows:
R: -2.50 (6/6)
L: -2.50 (6/6) 2BI (Left eye dominant)
Chi Chi has shortsighted power of 250 and the power is almost the same with her own glasses. She does not have any complaints about her eyes & vision. When we checked binocular balancing of her far vision, she still sees Right non-dominant eye clearer no matter how we adjusted the power. Supposedly, we will have our dominant eye seeing far clearer if not equal in both eyes.
This prompts us to check further and we found that her stereopsis/3D vision is indeed reduced. Moreover, her autorefractor reading/computer reading power indicates so much higher shortsighted power in her left eye than her own spectacle power, telling us that this eye may be working extra hard (behind the scene) for her to see clearly, something that we need to check & investigate in this left eye.
Other assessment shows:
Examination of Eye Alignment/Vergence (Cover Test)
orthophoria @Distance & Near (or very subtle movement detected)
(normal value: orthophoria/NMD-No Movement Detected or small XP small recovery)
EP = Esophoria is misalignment of the eye, eye is deviated inwards
XP = Exophoria is misalignment of the eye, eye is deviated outwards
NPC (Convergence – ability of eye to maintain a single clear near image) by RAF rule
7cm, 7cm, 7cm
(normal value: less than 7.5cm)
Examination of Eye Alignment by seeing corneal reflex (Hirschberg test)
left corneal reflex is displaced slightly nasally
(normal value: centre, symmetry)
Examination of Eye Alignment/Vergence (Prism Cover Test)
2 BI @Distance
3D Vision (Random Dot 3S)
32″
(normal value: 12.5″)
Examination of Eye Stamina/AA (RAF rule)
R: 10cm, 10cm, 10cm
L: 10cm, 11cm, 12cm
(normal value: 10cm for a 23years old)
We let Chi Chi compare of having the prism & without the prism. Without prism, she can still see but the smallest testing line seems to have shadow that come & go, now that she is given to compare & see the difference, she would like to have the prism for sharper vision. Having the prism on, we checked her 3D vision again & found that she sees optimum 3D vision at 12.5″ and we had her wear the prism for some time and repeated Prism Cover Test again to confirm the amount of prism needed. Should more prism is needed, then probably she “eats up” prism, and that she may not be suitable to have prism in her lens.
Chi Chi likes flexible frame of Flekswiss as she has a toddler son.. and to pair with Essilor Blue Capture in its anti fogging Optifog coating as she often needs to be in & out cold temperature storeroom at her workplace.
Chi Chi is scheduled to come back for follow up and we will see how it goes.
Thank you Chi Chi & husband Sam for your trust & support!?
